Sci Finder Off Campus

SciFinder Scholar Usage Off-Campus

The NDSU Library is currently trying software which will allow off-campus use of SciFinder Scholar.

If you are using Mac OS X:

1. Download the off-campus client
2. Drag the application from the image to your Applications folder (or where ever you keep your applications)
3. Go to http://dp3.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu:2048/scifinder (note, you have 2 minutes to complete the next step!)
4. Launch your copy of SciFinder Scholar - Proxy

If you are using Windows

1. If you are using a computer that will connect both on-campus and off-campus, it might make sense to install a second copy of SciFinder Scholar in a different location
2. Download the site.prf file that enables you to access our proxy
3. Unzip the file
4. Move the resulting file, site.prf, to your installation directory. (By default this is C:\SFSCHLR)
5. Go to http://dp3.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu:2048/scifinder (note, you have 2 minutes to complete the next step!)
6. Launch SciFinder Scholar

Note: only 5 client applications can access SciFinder Scholar at the same time; you might not be connected the first time you try. All clients will automatically disconnect after 15 minutes of inactivity.
