To begin using SciFinder Scholar, you will need to download the client application (available for Macintosh OS X or Windows computers):

Download the disk image(14.1 MB), drag the application to your desktop or Applications folder, and you are all set. (Requires 10.2 or higher) If you would rather use Firefox instead of Safari, download this version instead.

Leopard Users Note — This new version fixes previous incompatibliities, and you can now run SciFinder in native mode on 10.5

Windows •Download the self-contained zip file (12.2 MB). Please follow the installation instructions
•Having problems? You probably didn't copy the file site.prf from the archive to C:\SFSCHLR. See the readme file in the zip file for instructions.

SciFinder Scholar provides access to CAplus for accessing scholarly literature (over 27 million records, from 1907 onward, and some 44,000 before 1907), CAS Registry for accessing information about compounds, CASREACT for organic chemical reaction research (journals: 1974 onward; patents: 1982-1984 and 1991 onward), CHEMLIST for regulatory information, CHEMCATS for commercial chemical availibility, and Medline for biomedical research. CAS also provides a brief usage tutorial.
