Scanning Photos
1. Place the item to be scanned in the lower right hand corner
of the scanner.
2. Double-click on the HP Photo & Imaging icon on the computer
desktop to open the program.
3. With the HP Scanjet 4500 highlighted, click Select.
4. Adjust the size of the pre-scanned image as desired.
5. Under the Scan menu, choose Accept.
6. Double-click the thumbnail of your scanned image to open the
file.
7. Save As allows you to name the file, the file type, and destination
of the file.
8. Under the File menu, select Print if you need a hard copy of
the image.
9. Select the DEWEY\COLORQ2 printer and click OK.
Scanning Text
1. Place the item to be scanned in the lower right hand corner
of the scanner.
2. Double-click on the OmniPage OCR icon on the computer desktop
to open the program.
3. Choose the OCR Wizard in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
It will walk you through the scanning process.
4. Leave Paper document on my scanner selected and choose the color
you want: black and white, grayscale, or color. Click Next.
5. Leave the settings set at Let OmniPage Pro decide and click Next.
6. If there is text in the original document, select its language.
Click Next.
7. Choose No for the Spell Check option and Yes for IntelliTrain.
Click Next.
8. If you want to save the scan as a file, choose the top option
Save it as a file on my computer.
9. Selecting the Copy it to the Clipboard option will let you paste
the scanned item into another document. Click Finish.
10. The scanner will then scan the item.
11. After scanning, the Save As screen pops up if you chose to Save
the scan as a file. Name the file, choose its file type (image,
Word document, Excel spreadsheet, etc.), and select where you want
to save the file.
At this point the scan is complete and saved. The text editor will
appear and allow you to make changes to the scanned document.
To print a scanned item, click on the File menu item, select Print,
and then Text, whichever best describes the scanned item. Select
the DEWEY\COLORQ2 printer and click OK.
