Libraries in Healthcare Facilities
Meritcare Library
(meritcare.com/library/)The Meritcare Library has a Patient Health collection and a Web page containing a variety of health-related information that can be used by the public. The computers in the library are basically for in-house patients. Coming soon in the new building is the Consumer Resource Center.
Veterans Administration Library
The VA Library has some Patient Education materials that can be accessed by the public. The computers in the library are primarily for in-house patients.
College and University Libraries
Concordia College, Carl B. Ylvisaker Library
(library.cord.edu)Concordia College's Library has a page of Resources by Major/Minor (www4.cord.edu/library/majors/default.htm). From here you can select Family & Nutrition Sciences or Physical Education & Health to find Selected Internet Sites on related topics. The Library only has public access on two standup computers.
Minnesota State University Moorhead, Hendrix Health Center
(www.mnstate.edu/hendrix/links.cfm)The Hendrix Health Center at MSUM has Informational Links on a variety of topics including nutrition, health organizations, and other Web resources.
North Dakota State University, Health Sciences Library
(www.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu/research/subjects/lifesci/HlthLib.php)The Nursing Resources (www.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu/research/subjects/lifesci/nursing.php) link from the Health Sciences Library contains some applicable information. Most resources are designated for NDSU affiliated users.
The Wellness Center on campus has a page entitled Wellness Links (www.ndsu.nodak.edu/wellness/links.shtml) and contains links to many information resources divided by major subjects such as Alcohol & Other Drugs, Tobacco and Men's Health.
UND Harley E. French Library of the Health Sciences
(harley.med.und.nodak.edu)Mary Markland, SE Clinical Campus Librarian, is located in the Medical Education Building at the VA site. She does outreach for the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences in this part of the state. Mary can help you with basic information requests at no charge; more in-depth research is fee-based. There are no fees for UND affiliated staff. Her phone number is 701.293.4173.
Live Help is a virtual reference service where you can chat with a health sciences librarian to get answers to your questions. This service is available Monday-Friday, 2-4pm and 7-9pm CST, except for holidays. To connect to this service, go the the Harley E. French Library's Web page (harley.med.und.nodak.edu) and click on the Live Help logo. At present there are no limitations on who may use this service.
The Library's home page contains links to their outreach programs on Public, Rural, and Native American Health. On the Library's Linking Native Americans to Health Information page (harley.med.und.nodak.edu/tcl/), select the Resources link in the black navigation bar for information on a wide variety of related topics.
Public Libraries
Fargo Public Library
(www.fargolibrary.org)The Fargo Public Library has general health reference and circulating materials. Public access computers are available for two hours maximum per day and are first come, first served. You may signup online for the next available computer.

(www.larl.org)The Moorhead Public Libary is part of the Lake Agassiz Regional Library system. Its Health & Wellness online resources page (www.larl.org/reference/online_health.html) has links to a variety of health information on the Web. A bookmark with recommended health information resources and a bibliography of some of their health materials are also available. A current LARL library card is required to use other resources such as the public access computers and databases.
