  • Best Practices: Beef industry standards for beef slaughter and meat handling and processing. Developed by the Beef Industry Food Safety Council and sponsored by the Beef Checkoff system.
  • Food Safety Information Center of the National Agricultural Library Information, resources, research reports, and abstracts of research in progress. Includes sections from the Foodborne Illness Education Center, the Food Safety Training and Education Alliance, and the Food Safety Research Information Office.
  • Food Safety Inspection Service (USDA). FSIS is responsible for ensuring the safety of meat, poultry and egg products in the U.S. FSIS conducts food inspections, furnishes information on testing protocols and food safety analysis, and publishes food safety consumer information . The FSIS site is browsable and searchable, and also includes a hot line.
  • Food and Nutrition (FAO) Provides international information on human nutrition (including nutrition country profiles,. food composition, nutritional assessment, nutritional requirements, HIV/AIDS) and a Food Safety and Quality section (including text of Codex Alimentarius,. risk assessments, food control systems). Provided by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations.
  • Food Saafety Inspection Service Education Site Consumer oriented site with informatin, and ask-an-exert features.
  • Food Safety Sites: Food Science section of the Michigan Electronic Library focuses on food safety issues and resources including foodborne illness, food handling, food processing.
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) CDC serves as the national focus for developing and applying disease prevention and control, environmental health, and health promotion and education activities designed to improve the health of the people of the United States. Food safety information can be found in many of their published statistics and periodicals including Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR).
  • Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) - Includes news factsheets, documents and links. Topics include biotechnology; consummer advice, food additives, pesticides and chemicals; foodborne illness; food labeling and nutrition information, imports, inspections and HACCP, and much more. CFSAN is an agency of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
