  • Nutrition, Food Safety & Health Resources on the Internet This very comprehensive site provides categorized links to nutrition, food safety, and health related web sites, agencies, directories, etc. Produced by the NDSU Extension Service. Includes section on North Dakota and regional resources.
  • Nutrition.gov. Comprehensive links to all aspects of nutrition and health information sites and publications produced by the federal government. Searchable, and also can be navigated by links to subject categories. Produced by numerous agencies of the federal government, this site is intended to provide "easy access to all online federal government information on nutrition.... healthy eating, physical activity, and food safety..."
  • NutritionData Provides simplified nutritional analyses and generates labels that list nutrition facts for a large number of individual foods and user-generated recipes. Also indicates what is good and bad about the foods, and helps select foods that best meet dietary needs.Data comes from USDA's Nutrient Data Laboratory's Food composition tables (see next listing) and information provided by restaurants and food manufacturers.
  • Dietary Reference Intakes Human dietary reference intakes developed by the Institute of Medicine for each nutrient or other food component include the following: estimated average requirement, recommended dietary allowance, adequate intake level, tolerable upper intake levels. Dietary Reference Intakes and Recommended Dietary allowances are also available from the National Agricultural Library web site.
  • Food and Nutrition (FAO) Provides international information on human nutrition (including nutrition country profiles,. food composition, nutritional assessment, nutritional requirements, HIV/AIDS) and a Food Safety and Quality section (including text of Codex Alimentarius,. risk assessments, food control systems). Provided by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations.
  • Nutrition and Athletics: "Topic in depth" selected sites from the Scout Report for the Life Sciences. (Copyright Internet Scout Project 1994-2005. http://scout.wisc.edu/)
  • Nutrition Source Provides timely information on diet and nutrition for clinicians, allied health professionals and the public. Includes news, press releases regarding nutritional research, nutritional information and recommendations. References are given to peer-reviewed research supporting recommendations on the site. Provided by the Harvard School of Public Health.
  • Child Care Nutrition Resource System Provides information to persons working in USDA's Child Nutrition Programs. The site is developed by the National Agricultural Library's Food and Nutrition Information Center and the University of Maryland Department of in Nutrition and Food Science in collaboration with USDA's Food and Nutrition Service. Recipes, resources, and information on preparing nutritions meals and food safety are included.
  • Nutrition Information and Resources Center Provided by the Food Science Department of the College of Agricultural Sciences at Pennsylvania State University, this searchable site provides access to information mostly from government, universities, and health institutions. Includes links to selected web sites, online information, and NIRC Library materials (which may be borrowed by qualified persons).
  • Food and Nutrition Internet Index FNII is a searchable Web site describing and indexing important, valuable food and nutrition resources available on the Internet. Over 1800 selected international sites are available. Full access requires a subscription fee, although you can search a portion of the database by logging on as a "guest" user.
  • Tufts University Nutriton Navigator."A rating guide to nutrition websites" maintained by Tufts university. Searchable, and also browsable by broad topics; also includes hot topics.
  • International Food Information Council Includes food science, nutrition and food safety information and links.

  • International Food Policy Research Institute IFPRI’s mission is to identify and analyze policies for sustainably meeting the food needs of the developing world. Their website includes food policy research information, data sets, information on IFPRI research (searchable by region or by subject) and links to other organizations and sites.

  • The Nutrition Coordinating Center (NCC) is located at the University of Minnesota. NCC's mission is to develop, provide, and support state-of-the-art methods and databases for researchers for the collection and analysis of dietary data.
  • Nutrition Navigator: a rating guide to nutrition websites provided by Tufts University Center on Nutrition Communication. Very good place to look for important sites.
  • Nutrition Links: provide links to various sites that focus on nutrition and nutrition-related areas. Produced by Kansas State Research & Extension
  • Nutrition sites from the Michigan Electronic Library. Focuses on nutrition information on the web including dietary guidelines, links to reputable sources with information about diets, weight loss, dietary supplements, etc. Sponsored by the Michigan Library, and the University of Michigan Library
  • Hardin Meta Directory Nutrition Page: Selected links to "best sites that list the sites"; provided by Hardin Library for the Health Sciences, University of Iowa.

  • SciTechResources.gov. This "catalog" of government science and technology Web sites access to government resources.Searchable, or browsable by general catagories, including Agriculture and Food and sub-categories including Food Safety
  • Nutrition Analysis Tool Developed in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition , University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Provides "a web based program that allows anyone to analyze the foods they eat for various different nutrients."
  • ASO: The Association for the Study of Obesity ASO "promotes research into the causes, prevention, and treatment of obesity". The site provides abstracts of papers from past ASO meetings, and links to obesity-related Web resources.

  • GPO Access. U.S. federal site for laws, regulations; also includes legislation, hearings, supreme court cases, and other official U.S. agency information.
  • Standards of identity are included Title 21 and/or Title 7 of the Code of Federal Regulations. The code is available in the print edition (REFERENCE KF70 .A3) and via the world wide web.
