Print Resources
ODIN is the searchable online catalog
used to locate books, media, archival materials, government documents
and periodicals in the Libraries. ODIN can also be used to find
resources at other libraries in the state. The ODIN URL is http://www.odinlibrary.org/nwq.html.
Instructions for using the catalog are located in the Help screens
and a guide is available on the NDSU Libraries' home page http://www.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu.
To locate items in the main Library, a listing of each type of material
is available at http://www.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu/reference/locatingitems.php.
Please ask if you need assistance. In
general, the Library of Congress system is used for books, the Dewey
Decimal system is used for periodicals, and the SuDocs system is
used for government documents.
To check out library materials you must
have your NDSU ID with you. Your NDSU ID functions as your library
card and also provides the information needed to sign in to your
ODIN account to renew items. Please bring your ID to one of the
Libraries to validate your card.
- The 14 digit barcode on the back of your card is your library
card number (excluding the A and B).
- By default, your last name is your ODIN system password (if
you were a PALS user, it may be just first 8 letters of your last
name if it is longer than that).
Periodicals (Print, Microform & Electronic)
Journals and magazines are available in a variety of formats and
may be located in different areas within the Libraries. Because
of space considerations, some periodicals are housed off campus
in the Library Annex. A step-by-step guide to finding a specific
article may be viewed at http://www.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu/research/subjects/ed/getarticles.php.
Other Electronic Resources
The Libraries' home page contains a
tremendous amount of information about the services, databases,
periodicals and other materials that are available electronically.
Some of these resources are not available off campus and others
require authentication. Use the Libraries' "My
Login" authentication to access the electronic journals
and databases that are licensed for remote access.
Note: Your Campus Connection ID/password and your ODIN ID/password
are not the same as those used by other campus systems, including
the Libraries, for authentication. This authentication requires
that you first set up a login and password at the Information
Technology Services Enroll page: https://secure.ndus.nodak.edu/services.
Be sure to select Library and any other services you might need,
such as Blackboard, in the Services section. This setup may not
take effect immediately, so please allow up to two days for it
to be established.
Periodicals provided in electronic format
can be identified and accessed though the E-Journals page. Locating
an e-journal can be done by searching for a specific journal title
or by title browsing. Access this page at https://www.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu/ejourn.
Databases can be located by subject
or title. For direct access, go to http://www.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu/databases.
Most databases provide Help screens for users, and help is also
available from your Subject Librarian or the staff at the Reference
Desk.
Reserve Materials
Contact the Circulation Department of
the main Library (231-8888) or the appropriate branch about placing

Interlibrary Loan service is available. You may call with questions
