Finding Materials in the NDSU Libraries
Microforms, both fiche and film, are located
in the northwest corner of the lower level.
Periodical microfiche are arranged by Dewey call number.
Newspaper microfilm are arranged by title.
Document microfiche (including ERIC) are arranged by SuDoc number.
Topographic maps are near the microforms in
the lower level.
They are filed in cabinets by State, then subdivided by quadrant
name (alphabetically).
Current Newspapers are in the lower level study
area.
Media (audiovisuals) are on the main floor
near the Reference Desk.
Videos, kits, slides, etc. are all arranged by format and shelved
by Library of Congress (LC)call number.
Audio cassettes may be filed on the shelves if they are boxed, or
located in the large cabinets with drawers if they are individual
cassettes.
Reference materials are on the main floor in
the Reference area in LC call number order.
Current periodicals, generally from the year
2000 and newer, are on the main floor in the SE corner of the Reference
area.
The General Collection is located on the second
floor in LC call number order.
Folios are oversized books on the second floor,
located between the Z's and the Documents.
Documents that are in print are in the NW corner
of the second floor and are shelved by SuDoc number. They can be
checked out.
Document Computer Files are filed by SuDoc
number in the cabinet are in the NW corner of the second floor by
the print government documents. They can be checked out.
This is only the Main Library. Similar arrangements are used in
the four branches.
