| Biographical Note: |
John Beattie was born in Scotland in 1859 and came to Canada at age 17. In 1881 he, his parents and siblings immigrated to Ayr, N.D. where they homesteaded. In 1889 John Beattie married Margaret Ellen Thompson of Riply, Ontario, Canada. They lived at Ayr and raised three children.
