| Description: |
Askegaard
family home with eighteen people posed in front as well as several
pieces of furniture on the grass. In foreground is sons Eugene &
Edwin beside bicycles. House is of brick construction with two-story
porch on two sides, bay window, and two chimneys. Erected besides
and attached to the porch is a large children's swing (two seats,
facing each other). To rear is a large barn with windmill atop the
roof. Relatively new trees visible between house and barn and behind
house, also shrubbery in front of porch. |

Note: |
David Askegaard
was born in Toten, Norway in 1853, came to U.S.A. with his parents
in 1876 and settled in Pleasant Township, Cass County, N.D. In 1886
moved across the Red River to Holy Cross Township in Clay County,
Minnesota where he had extensive farmland. He married Minnie Dunhom
of Norway in 1876. They had 10 children. She died in 1897 and he
married Christine Larson with whom he had 6 children. He died in
1919. |
