Elizabeth Brown Leroy was a native of Killdeer, N.D. and after college she taught school until she married in 1933. The family moved to Fargo in 1942 and she raised four daughters. Her detailed diaries cover 1925 to 1930 and again from 1971 to her death in June 2003. There are also detailed financial diaries (1945-2003) and copies of her numerous short story writings. The collection also includes some papers of her mother, Alice Keller Brown.
