Ralph
Diehl, a long-time farmer and politician from Hillsboro, N.D., was also
a meticulous keeper of records documenting his active life. His collection
of detailed farm records (1936-1980s) are perhaps the longest run of
such records in the Institute archives. There are also extensive records
related to the numerous organizations in which he was involved, both
local and state. Of particular interest are the records related to the
sugar beet industry in the Red River Valley. The political series includes
campaign literature, his involvement in the state Republican Party and
while serving in the North Dakota Legislature in the 1960s.
