Rose Metzinger was born November 11, 1910 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She graduated from Central High School and North Dakota Agricultural College,
both of Fargo N.D. She attended medical school at the University
of Chicago and received her medical degree in 1936. In 1968, while
on the staff of Fargo Clinic, Dr. Burt developed the first adolescent medicine
program in North Dakota. Dr. Burt was also interested in gardening
and was a Bison Booster. She died in 1995 at the age of 84.
The
collection contains speeches and papers Dr. Burt wrote and gave regarding
adolescent problems such as self-esteem, drug abuse and education.
There are also letters she wrote to the editor and Senators and Congressman.
Finally there are articles that Dr. Burt wrote regarding politics, healthcare
and adolescent behavior.
