The
Citizens for Better School Planning was a civic organization, organized
circa 1961, and was composed of residents from Fargo's north side.
The organization formed to protest the proposal to build the new high school
in the northeast corner of Fargo. The group defeated the proposal
and achieved their goal of having the school built on the old Red River
Valley Fair Grounds.
The
records consist primarily of newspaper clippings but also has pamphlets
and correspondence that documents the organization's activities.
The collection also includes a transcript of a 1961 television show paid
for by the group as well as a PTA Study Committee report regarding the
need for a new high school.
