Frederick
Stratton was born on July 5, 1847 in Athol, Massachusetts. He
attended Williams College and graduated in 1871 and later received his
Ph.D. from Wesleyan University in 1891. After holding principal and
director positions at schools in Massachusetts and Iowa, Dr. Stratton was
appointed Professor of Greek at Fargo College in 1906. While at Fargo
College, he served as dean from 1906 to 1911 and as librarian of the college.
He continued his work at Fargo College until 1922 when the college closed.
The
collection consists of correspondence, speeches, talks, writings, book
comments and notes, lectures, publications, manuscript of history of Fargo
College, a Congregational liberal arts institution located at Fargo, ND,
and subject files.
