On
August 17, 1959, the North Central Educational Television Association was
incorporated. It was begun by a group of Fargo-Moorhead citizens
exploring the possibility of educational television for the area.
In 1963, WDAY made its former tower and studio available to Channel 13
and, after receiving several grants, the channel made its first broadcast
on January 8, 1964. In 1965, KFME (Channel 13) began production of
its own first program, a sixty-hour course in English literature for Concordia
College.
The
collection consists of board of directors meeting minutes and membership
lists; correspondence of board president G. Wilson Hunter; various financial
statements; issues of staff memo; press releases on upcoming programs;
copy of a report on the future station by ETV Associates, Inc., consultants;
a plan of action, and program policy; various program schedules; and fund
raising material.
