Clara, Gertrude, and Katie Lobben

Clara Lobben was born on July 9, 1883 in Oakes, ND.  She attended Fargo schools and in 1918 graduated from Moorhead State Normal School.  Clara taught at Fargo's Longfellow and Wilson schools before becoming principal of the new Ben Franklin School in 1927 where she remained until her retirement in 1948.  Gertrude, or Gertie, Lobben was born on May 25, 1892 in Fargo.  She attended Fargo Schools and began studying at Concordia College in 1914, completing her degree in 1949.  Gertrude graduated from the Fargo College Conservatory and did postgraduate work in 1935 and 1940.  She taught music in Fargo, including Oak Grove High School.  Katie Lobben was born on March 15, 1886 in Fargo.  She attended local schools and became a teacher.  Katie taught at New York Mills, Minnesota before returning to Fargo and teaching at Washington, Roosevelt and Horace Mann.

The collection consists of correspondence, diaries, speeches, printed material, and other papers of the Lobben sisters.  Includes extensive material on North Dakota Federation of Music Clubs, Phi Iota, and Woman's Christian Temperance Union..
