Fargo Urban
Renewal-Main Avenue
Records, 1955-1978
16.9 linear feet (Mss 149)
Planning
and requests for funding began in 1955, but were set aside until 1961 in
order to better concentrate on the Urban Renewal project involving Fourth
Street. In 1964, the city and HUD signed a contract for the renewal
of Main Avenue. On June 30, 1974 the Urban Renewal Agency closed
out, with one property remaining (Parcel E) and was succeeded by Housing
and Redevelopment Agency of Fargo.
The
collection contains meeting minutes, correspondence, applications, supporting
documents, subject files, financial records, maps and other material relating
to land acquisition, property management, relocation of families and businesses,
and land dispositions in projects partially funding by U.S. Housing and
Home Finance Agency.
