Noble
Township (Township 143 Range 49) is located in the extreme northeastern
corner of Cass County, ND along the banks of the Red River. The township
received its name from the post office established in 1882 in Section 22
and from the Pennsylvania banker and oil producer H.W. Noble who happened
to own a large farm near Erie, ND. The township's first settler was
Martin Schow who came from Norway in 1870.
The
collection consists of meeting minutes, treasurers' ledgers, and road record
ledger (1888), of a rural agricultural community. Includes minuters
of a number of joint meetings (1927) with Kinyon Township, town orders,
and reports of the Board of Auditors.
