Frank L. Anders had an illustrious career beginning with serving in the
Philippines where he earned the Congressional Medal of Honor. After earning
a degree in civil engineering he became the Fargo City Engineer and designed
the Fargo Filtration Plant. He later became receiver and general manager
of the Lucky Strike Coal Company at Zap, N.D. In addition he was secretary
and construction engineer on the Board of State Capitol Commissioner which
oversaw the construction of the North Dakota state capitol. He also was
active in the North Dakota National Guard, and he was an engineer promoting
the Missouri River diversion project. His papers though are broader than
just his engineering and architecture interests; they also document the
North Dakota coal industry, and the development of Missouri River diversion.
