Oscar H. Will was born in Pompey, New York and came to Bismarck, ND in 1881 as a traveling agent for his brother's nursery business based in Fayetteville, New York.  Will worked with E. M. Fuller at a greenhouse and soon leased the business and introduced a new line of seed.

After 1887, Mr. Will focused his attention on the seed and nursery business.  He founded a seed company called Oscar H. Will & Co., the first nursery in North Dakota.
