Lawrence
Root Waldron was the Superintendent of the Dickinson Experiment Station
where he did extensive research on alfalfa, grasses and dry-land farming.
He later transferred to the main Experiment Station in Fargo and became
a plant breeder, a position he held for the rest of his career.
Waldron is best known for his development of the Ceres, Rival and Mida
strains of wheat, in his on-going programs to combat rust, drought and
climatic conditions. He was also a prolific writer, publishing
both popular and scientific aritcles.
