Miller leads tour group to Ukraine and Germany

Michael M. Miller, Director & Bibliographer, Germans from Russia Heritage Collection (GRHC), NDSU Libraries, leads the 13th Journey to the Homeland Tour group to Ukraine and Germany for May 17-28. The tour includes May 21-25, Odessa, Ukraine visiting the former Bessarabian, Black Sea and Crimean German villages; May 22-25, Stuttgart, Germany and Alsace, France; and May 25-28, Wiesbaden, Germany.

While visiting Wiesbaden on May 26, GRHC will sponsor the Amerika Haus information tables at the Russlanddeutschen Bundestreffen, a gathering of Germans from Russia with 30,000 expected to attend. Since the late 1980s, more than 2.5 million Germans have immigrated from the former Soviet Union back to Germany. Many are searching for their long lost relatives in Canada and USA including the Dakotas.

For more information about the tours, visit www.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu/grhc/outreach/journey/index.html. The dates for the 2008
tour are May 20-30.
