What we think
"State loses another guardsman in Iraq", The Jamestown
Sun, Jamestown, North Dakota, September 23, 2004
North Dakota has lost another member of the 141st Engineer Combat
Battalion, Company B. Staff Sgt. Lance Koenig, 33, of Fargo, formerly
of Carrington, was killed Wednesday by a roadside bomb.
Our sympathy goes out to members of his family, particularly his
wife, two daughters and parents.
In all, the state has had eight war-related fatalities in Iraq,
including Koenig and five other North Dakota National Guardsmen.
Hopefully this tragedy will once again pull the greater community
together in support of those who have lost loved ones from our National
Guard and once again remind us there are other Guard family members
left behind who need our support.
Remembering the outpouring of support for the family of Spc. Phil
Brown, 21, Jamestown, we believe the support will be there for the
family of another local hero who laid down his life for his country.
