"Prairie Public Productions Shine at Telly Awards"
In the June, 1999, issue of the monthly membership program of "Waves"
published by Prairie Public Broadcasting in Fargo is the following
story:
"Four Prairie Public television productions received Telly Awards
from the Center for Creativity. the Telly Awards are for excellence
in the field of video and television production. Telly awards are
judged by industry professionals and are measured again a high standard
of excellence.
"Germans from Russia: Children of the Steppe, Children of the
Prairie," was the overall winner in the Documentary category. Bob
Dambach produced this fine film. It was edited by Dave Geck.
"Keep the Faith," the story of the Grand forks area youth's musical
celebration of community after the 1997 flood, received a bronze
medal in the Documentary category. Carrie Pierce produced the program.
Travis Jensen, Trina Jordahl and Gretchen Artnson captured video
for the project.
Another bronze medal was awarded to Prairie Public in the Documentary
category for "Mennonites of Manitoba." Canadian producer George
Siamandas worked with Trina Jordahl and Gretchen Artnson to create
this inside view of the important religious and ethnic group.
In the category of Information/Social Issues, producer Becky Jones'
"Prospering" won a bronze medal. Dave Geck was the editor of this
program that examined ways farm families are finding to maintain
the life they love on their farms.
Congratulations are due to all the winners and to Prairie Public's
entire production team for a great year of Prairie Public productions.
