The Germans from Russia Heritage Collection is pleased
to provide the translation of this work, Memories
of Friedenstal in Bessarabia (Erinnerungen aus Friedenstal
in Bessarabien 1949]. This work was first published
in the German language in 1949.
In the Foreword, Pastor E. Tetz, the author writes
at Pentecost in 1949: "On the occasion of the
"Friedenstaler Day", I am hereby putting
into your hands a small book that cares the title,
"Erinnerungen aus Friedenstal [Memories of Friedenstal]",
and contains scenes of our home village of Friedenstal,
The booklet is more of a picture book than it is a
chronicle. The photographs, thereby taking the place
of so many fond but irretrievable memories."
The publication contains impressive village photographs;
the names of men who died in wars; and a picture of
the Woodwind Chorus with names. Pages 36 to 48 include
the "Register of Names" of residents of
the Community of Friedentstal, the parish of Arcis,
Bessarabia.
