The ancestors of these Strasburg area families immigrated from the Catholic Kutschurgan villages of South Russia to settle in Emmons County in the late 19th century. One of these Kutschurgan villages was "Strassburg". The other Kutschurgan mother colonies were: Baden, Elsass, Kandel, Mannheim, and Selz.
