The Germans from Russia Heritage Collection is pleased to provide Edith R. Grosshans Gruebele's cookbook, Favorite Recipes of a Lifetime. Edith Gruebele was born in Friedentstal, Bessarabia, leaving there as a child in 1944 for Poland and Germany. She immigrated to Lodi, California, in 1952.

Edith Gruebele grew up in a Bessarabian German home learning the many recipes of her roots. She shares these wonderful recipes including: Edith's Pinwheels, Christmas sausage - weistwurst or bockwurst, kahlua, black bean soup, chicken noodle soup, German salad dressing, and potato soup.

Recipes for German dishes include: baked noodles, cabbage rolls or holubzi, cheesbuttor or Kasenoepfla, cheese kuchen, cooked cheese, creamy potato sticks, dumplings, Filsel - sweet stuffing, German pancakes, homemade sauerkraut, bread dumplings, Kraut Strudel, Kuchen, Kuechla, pork chops with lemon, pumpkin soup, sauce for cheese buttons, rice pudding, snowballs, stirum, strudel, stuffed baked potatoes, Schlitz Kuechla, and sweet rice with raisins.

In the Miscellaneous Section, Edith includes picked bell peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, vegetables, watermelon, zucchini, ice cream pickles and many other tasty recipes.

There are many other German recipes for main dishes, breads and rolls, and desserts.
