On pages 12 and 13 we find:

    1 Werst = 1.06678 km = 500 Saschen (Faden)
    1 Saschen = 2.1336 m = 7 Fuss = 3 Arschin
    1 Arschin = 28 Zoll (Djuim) = .7111m

Area:

    1 Dessjatine = 11.0925 ha
    1 Werst square = 1.13802 ha
    1 Saschen square = 4.5521 m square

Weight and Dry Measure:

    1 Pud = 16.38 kg = 40 Russian pounds
    1 Russian pound = .4095 kg
    1 Tschetwert (Tscht) = 2.099 hl = 8 Tschetwerik (Tschk)
    1 Wedro = 12.299 l

Money:

    Originally 1 rubel silver = 1 rubel paper or Bancorubel (Banco Assignation (B.A.)
    1815: 1 rubel silver = 425 Rbl B.A.
    1840: 1 " " = 350 " "

    1 rubel B.A. = 1 Prussian Thaler 2 Groschen 3 Pfennige lateron
    1 rubel B.A. = 2.16 Mark

    Krone (crown) means 'state' for the Bessarabian settlers
    Chutor = small settlement with only a few farms
    Basar = market.
