Header and Farming

I grew up in western North Dakota and all I remember the header was used by my dad in the early 50's or late 40's. It was used because the grain was so short and the header was pushed by two teams of horses and that was the only times I remember the gain was clipped and went to the header box up to the wagon. I remember the grain heads sliding out of the slots in the wagon, so my dad used canvases around the wagon. When loaded we pulled the heads out the back of the wagon on the ground then, when ready, dad would pull the threshing machine between the stacks and thresh the stacks out. I was little then and got to ride one of the horses.
