rest at St. James Cemetery. Her funeral service was
held at the rural church. |

Haying
Arthur E. Schmidt remembers haying as a young lad
near Gackle. He recalls using a pitch fork to load
the wagon. According to him, he never had to haul
hay further than a mile. |
