Grandpa and Grandma Herman are photographed here with their youngest daughter, Bertha. When Herbert Herman was a young lad, he was really close to his Aunt Bertha.
My Solider Suit
Herbert Herman is photographed wearing his little solider suit, sitting next to his Aunt Bertha (Roloff) Friegen. Herbert remembers wearing this suit on New Year’s Day, when he went out to wish all the neighbors a Happy New Year.

This photograph was taken after the deaths of Grandpa and Grandma Herman. The photographer took an existing photograph and superimposed it into a new photograph of the Herman children in 1947.
My Grandfather
Herbert Herman has a number of wonderful memories of his Grandfather Johann Roloff because his grandfather lived with Herbert’s family during his childhood. According to Herbert, his grandfather was a slight and fun man.

Gackle’s World War II Vets
