Serials Review 2006

Author: Thomas Bremer

A combination of a static budget and the ongoing serials crisis (relentless inflation, journal proliferation, etc.) required NDSU to conduct a cancellation project this year.  Earlier this summer library administration projected a total shortfall of $300,000 for FY2006-07 and decided to reduce both the journal and book budgets to meet the shortfall.  Dean James Council advised all Academic Deans of the journal cancellation project and that cancellation decisions would be made at an August 24, 2006 meeting.  In addition he asked faculty to notify subject librarians of any journals they felt COULD NOT be cut.  All decisions identified in the lists below (cancellations, adjustments, etc.) impact the FY2007 budget and generally go into effect January 2007.  Contact a subject librarian for more information.
