Books and Monographs
Author: Thomas
Bremer
Most current imprints are acquired by orders
placed by selectors, often through faculty request or suggestion.
These orders or suggestions may be made to your departmental liaison,
to your subject
librarian, or directly to Collection Development.
Large reference sets, electronic resources, major microfilm collections
and other substantial works are also purchased. Such acquisitions
are made selectively, depending upon the availability of funds.
If you have requests for items in this category, please let your
subject librarian or liaison know. To suggest a monograph
purchase, send an e-mail with the pertinent information to the appropriate
subject librarian for your request. Or complete this PDF
Request For NDSU Library Materials online form, print it, and
return to the library.
Useful Tools:
- Books
in Print (MnSCU/PALS version). The Books in Print
database contains publication information on over 2 million
books currently "in-print" and available for sale (the exact
number of entries is available). NDSU does not necessarily
own titles appearing in this database. If NDSU owns the
item, its call number will display as the Location.
If NDSU doesn't own the item, LIBRARY does not own citation
title will display as the Location. Books
in Print contains two subfiles that you can search separately:
Current Books in Print and Publisher
Addresses. Books in Print is updated monthly.
- Quick
List of Publishers. A short list of important academic
book publishers (compiled by Lura
Joseph).
- Publishers'
Catalogues Home Page. An extensive list of domestic
and international publishers.
