A respiratory therapy major is first found in the 1990-1992 bulletin and included course work and clinical training. As of the 1998-2000 bulletin, the major was now called respiratory care.

Sometime during the spring/summer 2006 the major moved to the College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Sciences.
