Biography
 

Robert Koob was born on October 14, 1941 in Graetlinger, Iowa. He received his bachelor's on science education from Northern Iowa University in 1961 and his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in chemistry in 1967. He came to NDSU as an Assistant Professor of chemistry in 1967. He chaired the Chemistry Department for 1973-1977 and 1979-1981. In 1974 he was made Director of the North Dakota Water Resources Research Institute. He became Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics in 1981 and was made Vice President of Academic Affairs at NDSU in 1985. He was honored with the Blue Key Doctor of Service Award in 1987. During 1987-1988 he served as interim President of NDSU. In 1990 he took the position of Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at California Polytechnic Institute, San Luis Obispo.
