Dale Wurster was born on April 10, 1918 in Sparta, Wisconsin. He received his bachelor's in pharmacy in 1942 and his doctorate in pharmacy and pharmacology in 1947, both from the University of Wisconsin. He served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946. He began as an Instructor at the University of Wisconsin in 1947 and left as a Professor in 1971 to assume the duties of Dean, College of Pharmacy, NDSU. Dean Wurster resigned in December 1972 to take the position of Dean, College of Pharmacy, University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa.
