Shirley Friend was born in Noel, Missouri in 1931. She received her Bachelor's from the University of Arkansas , Fayetteville in 1962, her Master's from the University of Missouri , Columbia (1964), and her Ed.D. from the University of Arkansas , Fayetteville (1969). Prior to coming to NDSU in 1982, she was an Associate Professor and Chair of the Clothing, Interior Design and Textiles Department at Washington State University . When she came to NDSU it was as an Associate Professor and Chair of the Textiles and Clothing Department. She served as Associate Dean of the College in 1988-1989 and then as the Acting Dean for 1991-1992. She retired from NDSU in June 1993. |
