Administrative History
 

Political Science is first found as part of the Department of History and Political Science in the School of Applied Arts and Sciences in 1939. By 1960, political science was a stand-alone department. The initial beginning of criminal justice are found in the Sociology/Anthropology Department in 1974 for student majoring in sociology with an emphasis in community centered corrections. By 1978 the emphasis was called crime, delinquency and correctional studies. By 1992 the emphasis was now called criminal justice and stayed an emphasis in Sociology/ Anthropology until 2003. Effective July 1, 2003, the North Dakota Board of Higher Education approved the new Department of Criminal Justice and Political Science.

Scope and Content
 

Records consist of eight folders covering courses, a student handbook, an annual report, and recruitment material.
