The first time a formal drama course is found is in the 1916-1917 bulletin, under the Department of Public Discussions and Social Services. As of the 1939-1940 bulletin, drama course were offered under the Speech Department. As of 1965, the bulletins list Speech and Drama. In 1986, the Department of Theatre Arts is listed. By the late 1980s, it was the Department of Mass Communications, Speech Communications, Theatre Arts. By 1992 Theatre Arts had joined the Division of Fine Arts with the Art Department and the Music Department.
