Administrative History

Plant pathology, although not specified in the early NDAC bulletins, has always been a field of study at the university. In fact, the fourth bulletin of the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station, written by H.L. Bolley in November 1891, was titled: “Potato scab and possibilities of prevention; A disease of beets identical with "deep scab" of potatoes; Hastening the maturity of potatoes.” It wasn't until the 1960-1962 catalog that the Department of Plant Pathology is listed.

Today the department offers degrees from the bachelors to the doctorate.
