The Department of Agricultural Entomology is first found as a department in the 1922-1923 bulletin with four course offerings: agricultural entomology, insects and public health, bee culture, and research in agricultural entomology. As of the 1965-67 university bulletin, the department became the Department of Entomology. As of the 1996-98 university bulletin, entomology was no longer offered as an undergraduate major, with only graduate degree options (M.S. and Ph.D.).
Today the Entomology Department of NDSU's focus is on issues and problems associated with northern crop, rangeland, and livestock production systems important to the Upper Great Plains states. Current programs deal with some, although not all, of the major crop/rangeland/livestock problems faced by our constituents. We have the potential for both intra- and interdepartmental team building to address problems significant to the region.
