Administrative History

“A Department of Agricultural Economics and Marketing was established in our College early in the year 1919. On November 3rd, 1921, this department organization was broadened to include not only Station, Extension, and College workers in cost accounting, farm management, and marketing, but also the collegiate staff in Social and Economics Science. Previous to that time, the agricultural part of the teaching in this broad field was given under the name of Farm management.” (Seventeenth Biennial Report to the Board of Administration of the North Dakota Agricultural College and Resident Instruction Division, July 31, 1924, Department of Agricultural Economics). The first entry for the Department of Agricultural Economics is found in the 1922-1923 North Dakota Agricultural College catalog.
