| G. N. R'y. Co. Offices, | |
| St. Paul, Minn. | |
| Dear Sir:- | |
| Quite a while ago I saw you in relation to building a spur track from the main line of the Great Northern to the college heating plant. The ground was promptly surveyed, since which I have heard nothing as the the company's further intentions. We are very anxious to have this spur track and thinking that perhaps it [the matter] had been mislaid, I venture to write now for information. | |
| Yours very truly,- | |

| Dear Sir: | |
| Replying to your letter of the ninth instant, I beg to say that Mr. Hill is at present on a fishing trip and is not likely to be here for, at least, a month. I understand that before leaving he took up with our Chief Engineer the matter of a spur track to the Agricultural College and my impression is that he was not inclined to favor it, owing to the difficulty of getting a line which would not cut up the campus. As to [copy cut off] however, I may be mistaken. | |

| Mr. Louis W. Hill, | |
| G. Assistant to President, | |
| Building. | |
| Dear sir:- | |
| The question of putting in a spur track to the North Dakota Agricultural College, of Fargo, North Dakota, has been up for some time, and the College Authorities are very desirous of having the spur put in. | |
| I have had survey and estimates made, which show the cost to be about $5,000, and to require the use of nearly nine thousand feet of rail, a quantity which we are totally unable to supply this season. | |
| I think that the President assured them that we would put in the track some time, but that no definite promises were made as to time, and I do not see how the work can be done this year, owing to our inability to furnish rail. I think, therefore, that it would be a good plan for you to write them, explain the circumstances, and tell them why we cannot put in the track this year, as a letter from you would probably have more effect than one from myself. | |
| Truly yours, | |

| Professor J. H. Worst, | |
| Agricultural College, | |
| Fargo, North Dakota. | |
| Dear Sir: | |
| Early last June we received a letter at this office in regard to building a spur from our main line to the college heating plant, and, as we have so far this year been able to complete the work, I am writing now to advise you that we find that we have not available sufficient rail to complete the spur this fall. I wish to let you know what the situation is, understanding that you will appreciate why the spur has not been built. I have had this up for some time with our officers, but have been obliged to come to the conclusion that i now write you of. | |
| Yours truly, | |
| Assistant to the President. |

| Dear Sir:--Yours of Sept. 18th received. I very much regret your inability to build the contemplated spur from your main line to the College heating plant, but am very glad to think I am able to read between the lines the possibility of having one built next summer. | |
| Thanking you for the consideration the matter has already received, I remain | |
