History
The Program Evaluation Committee was established in response to a request from
the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education, apparently in late 1980. The
committee evaluated each university academic program under a prescribed format
and made recommendations for future resource allocations. The committee, chaired
by David Forbes, presented its final report in July 1981 to Vice President for
Academic Affairs, H. Ray Hoops
Scope and Content
The records are organized into three series: I. Reports, 1981. II. Departmental
program evaluations. and III. Vitae. The records include the final report to
Vice President for Academic Affairs, report on each academic program completed
by the department which includes its mission statement, data on faculty, non-faculty
personnel, department strengths and weaknesses, library holdings & services,
facilities, equipment, centrality to University's mission, non-major credit
contribution, demand by or number of majors, demand for graduates, locational
advantage, impact on the public front, accreditation status, & external
support. There are also vitae for all faculty, organized alphabetically. Included
also is compilation of plan-of-actions by each college dean in response to the
committee's final report.
