Historical Background
The framework for Alumni
Association was laid in June of 1901. The following is taken from the April
15, 1901 issue of The Spectrum “To the letters of inquiry sent to all
of the graduates in January, replies have been received from all but one and
it was unanimously decided to organize and alumni association this spring and
hold our first annual banquet at some time during graduation week in June. A
committee has already been selected to arrange for a program.” p.105.
Found in the June 15, 1901 issue of The Spectrum “During commencement
week an alumni association was formed. Officers were elected and a constitution
and by-laws adopted. An annual meeting will be held at each commencement. The
new organization will be of great benefit to the college.” p.142.
With well over 60,000 alumni, the mission of the NDSU Alumni Association is
“to provide communication, leadership and programming to enhance loyalty
and commitment to the university among students, former students, alumni, faculty,
staff, parents and friends of the university." (NDSU Alumni Association

The Alumni Association
