Historical Note: When the North Dakota State Highway Department decided to extend and expand 19th Avenue North in Fargo to construct an interchange with Interstate 29, much of the land involved belonged to North Dakota State University. Easements and title transfers from NDSU were needed.
Scope and Content: The 19th Avenue North Expansion Records consist of correspondence to/from the NDSU Vice President for Agriculture, Dr. Kenneth A. Gilles, concerning the extension and expansion of 19th Avenue North. Correspondents are other University offices, officials of the City of Fargo, members of the State Board of Higher Education, and offices at the State Highway Department. Included are original letters, copies of letters, memos, hand-written notes and supporting documents such as agreements, maps, photostat copies of aerial photographs, extracts from minutes, appraisal reports and newspaper clippings. The files were forwarded to the University Archives from the VP for Agriculture’s office.
