.5 l.f.

Historical Background:

Rho Chi is a national honorary pharmaceutical society.   It originally began at the University of Michigan on May 4, 1908 , as a local pharmacy organization.   By the time 1912 came around, it was considered an honor society.   The members called themselves the "Aristolochite Society," and a second chapter began at the Oregon Agricultural College in 1919.   On June 3, 1922 , the Aristolochite Society ceased to exist and the State of Michigan received the Alpha Chapter of Rho Chi. The objective of Rho Chi "has always been to promote the advancement of the pharmaceutical sciences through encouragement and recognition of intellectual scholarship" ("The Rho Chi Society" by Glenn L. Jenkins, National President.   The article appeared in the Oct. 1932 issue of the Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association ).

The Kappa Chapter of Rho Chi at North Dakota Agricultural College (NDAC) was established and received its charter in the spring of 1928.   In the Tuesday, October 2, 1928 edition of The Spectrum , Rho Chi was honored: "Rho Chi, Honorary Pharmaceutical Fraternity Leads all Campus organizations" and "Rho Chi, honorary pharmaceutical fraternity organized last spring leads all other student organizations with an average of 90.5."   [This number referred to overall GPA of students involved with the organization at the time.]
