1916 Budget

Tom reviewed the handouts of the 1916 budget. Tom explained that the greatest share of revenue comes from the coin-op photocopiers and from late fees. The projected expenditures for this year are based an expected decline of money in 1916. We expect our revenue to be less than $93,000. This is due to the photocopier revenue is declining because the need for photocopying is not a demand since full text is online, electronic journals and the students can print free through the technology fee. We are also expecting fewer dollars in circulation due to we have changed processing fee to late fee. The late fee has been changed to when the student returns all their overdue books they will be charged only one fee of $10. In the past, we charged them $10 per book.

Tom summarized and explained the 1916 budget. Emphasis was made to the $14,000 required for travel. Richard Bovard stated he is looking into this and will put together a policy. It was noted that staff development is included in travel. Motion made to approve the budget with the right to review the travel later. (MOTION CARRIED)

Library Issues

Richard Bovard addressed the issue that the Library would not be getting additional funds from the University. It was noted that the Committee and the Library will be facing a challenging year. Richard reassured the committee members the issues on the top of the list are:

  1. Budget
  2. Personnel issues
  3. Justification of development program
Richard noted his primary job is to put our house in order and get ready for the new director.
