Staff Development Committee
Function
The Staff Development Committee is responsible
for programs related to overall staff enrichment and enhancement.
The Committee's focus is to consider and plan a staff development
program that provides ongoing opportunities for personal and
interpersonal development. The Committee consults with the Director
of Public Services on the overall direction of staff development
in relation to the Library's mission and is responsible for
planning programs, workshops, and learning opportunities. The
Committee also acts as a clearinghouse for suggestions made by
staff for programs related to staff development.
The Committee meets monthly except in July, and
plans development events 4–6 times a year.
Membership
The Committee consists of five members (two
librarians and three staff members) elected to staggered two-year
terms. The Educational Services Librarian serves as an ex-officio
member.
The Committee will select a chair and a secretary
from its members at its first meeting of the year for a term
of one year. The term year will be August 1–June 30.
Elections
Elections will be held annually the last
week of May. All permanent staff are eligible to be elected
except those on probationary status and current Committee members.
All permanent staff may vote.
The Administrative Assistant will prepare the ballot
and give the election results to the Committee chair.
Annual Report
The chair will prepare a report in June of Committee
activities during the preceding year and submit it to the Director.
